NSS urges Admn to resume work on Nagrota Degree College | | | Early Times Report
NAGROTA, Aug 19: Nagrota Sangarash Samiti (NSS) today urged the administration to come clear on its stand on the degree college here, saying the issue has to be addressed as per the aspirations of the people and in the larger interest of the student community. Senior leaders of the Samiti expressed surprise over delaying the work, adding that there seems to be no accountability, least to speak of monitoring the works. Rameshwar Dutt, who led the sit-in-dharna, said that construction of the college complex had been flagged as a priority project but given the lackadaisical attitude of the administration, there are apprehensions that some anti-people elements are mounting pressure for their vested interest. He lamented over the insensitivity of the government, which has preferred to remain mute spectators to the plight of the protestors who are constrained to sit in the open in this scorching heat and the ongoing pandemic for securing the future of their children. Dharna was staged by the prominent citizens while maintaining social distance and adhering to mandatory preventive protocols. They pledged to take the ongoing agitation to its logical conclusion and hoped good sense will prevail over the administration and work on the college project is started soon. |
