| Excise Commissioner conducts tour of remote areas in Udhampur | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 22: Excise Commissioner, J&K concluded his four-day long field tour to remote areas of district Udhampur today.
The purpose of Excise Commissioner’s tour was to gear up the field agency as he visited remote areas like Latti, Dudu-Basantgarh and Ramnagar.
Excise Commissioner, J&K Rajesh Kumar Shavan reviewed the preparedness and alertness of department in the cases of NDPS and bootlegging. Pertinently the officer also met selected citizens and representatives to seek their cooperation in fight against illicit distillation and Narcotics and Drugs. Officers of Revenue, Police and Excise were sensitized for their joint role in combating this menace.
Senior officials of excise accompanied the commissioner on tour.
The excise commissioner also instructed for conduct of awareness camps in school / colleges once the COVID-19 situation improves and the institutes are opened. The public of area highly appreciated the efforts of commissioner for visiting far flung area and redressing their concerns pertaining to department.
It is noteworthy that the officer had also visited Kupwara, Bandipora, Srinagar, Gurez and Tulail last month for similar job and taken in depth review of functioning of department in Kashmiri also.
The tour gets significance at this juncture when maximum people try to avoid making field visits in view of fear of Covid.
