Jammu, Aug 22: After taking oath as the second Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha visited the national capital for some “strategic consultations” and returned even stronger to run the Union Territory. Sources said during his visit to the national capital, Sinha held closed door meetings at Rashtrapati Bhaawan, and some other top offices in the Modi led government. Sinha is also understood to have held detailed discussions with former Governor of J&K, Satya Pal Malik to know from his experience about running affairs in JK. Sources said Sinha also held a detailed closed door meeting with senior Bharatiya Janta Party leader and minister in the Prime Minister’s office Dr Jitendra Singh. Sources said the result of all such back- to- back meetings was to empower Sinha to run the affairs in J&K as per his will and wish in accordance with the Constitution of India. Sources said Sinha has been told that he could take administrative decisions including transfers of the senior officials of at his own level looking at their performance. Sources said a plan to revive the political activities in the region was also discussed in detail with Sinha. Sources said Sinha was told in particular that Modi government has full faith in his competence and integrity and that he could prove the best bet on Kashmir. Sources said New Delhi appreciated Sinha for having visited the government run SMHS Hospital in Srinagar in the midst of pandemic when the same hospital is treating Covid19 patients. “At a time when even officials had been trying to stay away from such places, the LG himself visiting the hospital which treats Covid patients is a big message that for him public life is more precious than even his own life,” said a senior BJP leader on the condition of anonymity. “He (Sinha) got one common greetings in New Delhi that let the Constitution of India be his guide to run the affairs,” the BJP leader said. Sources said Sinha would be taking major administrative decisions in the comings days. |
