15 fresh deaths push COVID-19 death toll in JK to 608, 610 new cases reported

SRINAGAR, Aug 22: With 15 fresh deaths the death toll due to COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir reached 608. As 610 new cases of virus were reported today the number of positive cases in the union territory reached 31,981.
Srinagar district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Budgam two deaths and a death each in Jammu, Pulwama, Anantnag, Bandipora, Kupwara, Kishtwar, Poonch and Samba. So far 563 COVID-19 deaths have occurred in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 45.
Srinagar district reported 211 cases of Corona Virus today followed by Jammu 66 cases, Anantnag 48 cases, Bandipora 46 cases, Pulwama and Budgam 42 cases each, Ganderbal 34 cases, Kupwara 27 cases, Baramulla 20 cases, Kulgam 17 cases, Kathua and Udhampur 12 cases each, Reasi seven cases, Samba and Poonch six cases each, Shopian and Doda five cases each and Rajouri four cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 610 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 118 from Jammu division and 492 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 31,981. Also 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and 11 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 593 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 141 from Jammu Division and 452 from Kashmir Division. Out of 31,981 positive cases, 6,975 are active positive, 24,398 have recovered and 608 have died; 45 in Jammu division and 563 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 55,991 test results available, 8, 24,010 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 4, 30,647 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43,363 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,975 in isolation and 42,948 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 36,753 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 7,821 positive cases, 1,249 active positive, 6,378 recovered, 194 deaths; Baramulla has 2,606 positive cases, 563 active positive, 1,950 recovered, 93 deaths; Pulwama has 2,278 positive cases, 437 active positive, 1,798 recovered, 43 deaths; Budgam has 2,089 positive cases, 567 active positive, 1,470 recovered, 52 deaths; Anantnag has 2,040 positive cases, 428 active positive, 1,567 recovered, 45 deaths.
“Kulgam has 1,812 positive cases, 226 active positive, 1,555 recovered, 31 deaths; Bandipora has 1,794 positive cases, 835 active positive, 936 recovered, 23 deaths; Kupwara has 1,780 positive cases, 531 active positive, 1,208 recovered, 41 deaths; Shopian has 1,622 positive cases, 107 active positive, 1,488 recovered, 27 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,145 positive cases, 576 active positive, 555 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,262 positive cases, 633 active positive, 1,599 recovered, 30 deaths; Rajouri has 808 positive cases, 64 active positive, 741 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 718 positive cases, 123 active positive, 594 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 705 positive cases, 90 active positive, 613 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 634 positive cases, 25 active positive, 608 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 616 positive cases, 183 active positive, 431 recovered, two deaths; Doda has 368 positive cases, 58 active positive, 308 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 349 positive cases, 196 active positive, 153 recovered; Poonch has 343 positive cases, 64 active positive, 276 recovered, three deaths and Kishtwar has 191 positive cases, 20 active positive, 170 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 31,981 positive cases, 5,840 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
