Several Police officers of Armed wing occupying Police Stations | Leaves officers of Executive wing high and dry | | RAJESH TANDON EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 23: It has been observed that several police officers of Armed wing have been occupying police stations across the UT whereas the executive officers have been deployed for other jobs by the authority concerned. Sources told Early Times that despite the fact that the police officers of executive wing are assigned the duty of handling Police Stations, Chowki and the officers of armed wing have different profile of job but there are numerous instances across the UT, where influential police officers of the Armed wing have been taking over charge of police stations. In Jammu district alone, there are several instances where Armed personnel were given charge of police stations ignoring the officers of exertive wing. The issue has been raised several time the issue with higher authority several times but nothing was done to check this malpractice. Several officers of executive wing wishing anonymity said that the authorities must intervene into this matter and issue directions to stop this practice and demanded to appoint police officers of executive wing as Station House Officers in future.
