SRINAGAR, Aug 23: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir crossed 76 percent since 24,832 virus affected patients have recovered so far and discharged from the different hospitals of the union territory. The total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 32,647 as 666 fresh cases of virus were reported today. The death toll due to the virus in the union territory has reached 617 as nine more people died in the past 24 hours or so. Baramulla district reported three fresh deaths followed by two deaths each in Jammu and Ganderbal districts. A death each was reported from Srinagar and Budgam districts. So far 570 virus affected patients have died in Kashmir valley while as the number of such deaths in Jammu division is 47. Srinagar reported 258 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu 60 cases, Anantnag 47 cases, Budgam 40 cases, Pulwama 37 cases, Baramulla and Kupwara 34 cases each, Ganderbal 33 cases, Kulgam and Bandipora 27 cases each, Samba 15 cases, Rajouri and Kathua 12 cases each, Poonch nine cases, Udhampur and Reasi seven cases each, Shopian three cases and Ramban & Doda two cases each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 666 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 126 from Jammu division and 540 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 32,647. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported; two from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 434 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 109 from Jammu Division and 325 from Kashmir Division. Out of 32,647 positive cases, 7,198 are active positive, 24,832 have recovered and 617 have died; 47 in Jammu division and 570 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 68,594 test results available, 8, 35,947 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 4, 32,406 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,950 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,198 in isolation and 42,280 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 39,361 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 8,075 positive cases, 1366 active positive, 6,514 recovered, 195 deaths; Baramulla has 2,640 positive cases, 584 active positive, 1,960 recovered, 96 deaths; Pulwama has 2,315 positive cases, 428 active positive, 1,844 recovered, 43 deaths; Budgam has 2,129 positive cases, 579 active positive, 1,497 recovered, 53 deaths; Anantnag has 2,088 positive cases, 464 active positive, 1,579 recovered, 45 deaths. “Kulgam has 1,839 positive cases, 243 active positive, 1,565 recovered, 31 deaths; Bandipora has 1821 positive cases, 808 active positive, 990 recovered, 23 deaths; Kupwara has 1,814 positive cases, 550 active positive, 1,223 recovered, 41 deaths; Shopian has 1,625 positive cases, 105 active positive, 1,493 recovered, 27 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,181 positive cases, 600 active positive, 565 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,322 positive cases, 620 active positive, 1,670 recovered, 32 deaths; Rajouri has 820 positive cases, 76 active positive, 741 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 730 positive cases, 119 active positive, 610 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 712 positive cases, 92 active positive, 618 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 636 positive cases, 26 active positive, 609 recovered, one death. “Samba has 631 positive cases, 198 active positive, 431 recovered, two deaths; Doda has 370 positive cases, 59 active positive, 309 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 356 positive cases, 201 active positive, 155 recovered; Poonch has 352 positive cases, 60 active positive, 289 recovered, three deaths and Kishtwar has 191 positive cases, 20 active positive, 170 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 32,647 positive cases, 5,924 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
