Employees allegedly demand money for treatment, force to purchase medicines from pvt shops | DH Poonch becomes hub of corruption | | RAJESH TANDON EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, Aug 23: District Hospital Poonch has once again in limelight for its alleged mismanagement and corrupt practices, which can be gauged from the various instances, where patients were demanded money for treatment and were forced to purchase essential medicines from private shops for personal benefits. Sources told Early Times that it has been alleged that in many pregnancy cases the employees demand money from attendants for conducting treatment and force them to purchase medicines and surgical equipment from private shops despite the fact that all medicines are available in the hospital. Moreover, the entire treatment of pregnant women is free as per government instruction yet the staff force patients to give them money for treatment, which is an offence yet hospital administration has turned blind eye towards this malpractice. The DH Poonch administration has also been found least concerned towards COVID-19 prevention, which can be gauged from the fact that there is no provision for sanitization for patients and attendants and moreover the other patients, who visit for OPD also face such problem and always feel prone to be affected this virus. “Washrooms are unclean, no wash basins for washing hands have made things worse for the patients,” they said. Although several protests were held against hospital administration in the past for poor management yet there is no improvement. Similar issues also come to light in Rajouri hospital. CMO Poonch, when contacted in this connection said that he would take action only if a written complaint by the victim is received. “I request the victims to submit a written complaint in this connection and I assure that appropriate action will be taken against the erring employees,” he said
