JAMMU, Aug 23: The third day of Natrang’s International Theatre Talk show witnessed the highly edifying dialogue by the Acting Chairman of National School of Drama, Dr Arjun Deo Charan who is a well-known Rajasthani poet, critic, playwright, theatre director and translator. Describing this talk show as highly intellectual and enlightening activity, Director Natrang, Padmashri Balwant Thakur advised theatre enthusiasts from all over the world to attend it regularly on Natrang Jammu Facebook Page to learn from the most celebrated theatre personalities of the country at a single platform which is a rare and remarkable happening. Introducing Dr Charan, senior artist of Natrang, Neeraj Kant informed that one of the most revered theatre personalities of the country, he holds a doctoral degree for his research into Rajasthan's Performing Arts, and is currently Professor and Head of the Rajasthani Department at Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur. In a highly informative session, Dr Charan deliberated on the importance and relevance of Natyashastra which is known as ‘Pancham Veda’ and contains elements from four Vedas. There are well defined requisite qualities of director, actor mentioned in Natyashastra which are still relevant and would always remain relevant. He asserted that in present times, giving the excuse of modernization and development, we have cut our instinctive relation with nature, we even don’t know the names of birds, trees, flowers around us. The dramatist having impact of only western schools of thought, finds it difficult to fulfill Indian ethos of theatre which revolve around ‘Lok’, ‘Veda’ and ‘Adhyatam’, this concept was beautifully explained by Dr Charan. He insisted on self-realization and finding ‘Rang-Drishti’, Vision of Theatre, which is also the topic of this Talk Show.
