One held for threatening commuter with air pistol | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 26: A youth was arrested after he threatened a commuter with an air pistol in main market of Khara in Gandoh area of district Doda. According to police sources, the arrested youth was identified as Shakir Bashir Zargar, son of Bashir Ahmed Zargar of Gwari Kilotran in Gandoh Sub Division. Sources said that the accused Shakir turned angry after he didn’t find a pass for his vehicle from the person who was driving his vehicle in front of him, adding that as soon as the accused managed to get the pass, he stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road and came out fuming of it. “Shakir began threatening the victim and during the ensuing argument, he trained the imported weapon at him besides putting the barrel of the gun into the mouth of the victim as a result of which a panic gripped the entire area,” said sources. The locals told the Early Times that when the incident took place, the people started gathering at the spot and tried to intervene, but the enraged accused turned more furious and threatened the others as well. The locals said that after seeing having a gun in his hand, no one dared to get close to him and the accused was captured only after police arrived at the spot, adding that the accused belongs to an influential family. Speaking to Early Times, senior police officials informed that FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Gandoh and inquiry has also been set into motion. The police informed that the accuses purchased the air pistol used to intimidate the other person from Suresh Armoury, Shaheedi Chowk Jammu for Rs 28000 on his name with Jammu address R/o H No 233, Lane No. 7, Chiragh Colony Bathindi, Jammu.
