SRINAGAR, Aug 26: Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a steep hike in fresh Corona Virus cases and virus related deaths as 704 new cases were reported today while as 19 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in the union territory is 34,480 and total casualties are 657. Srinagar reported 198 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu 98 cases, Budgam 64 cases, Pulwama 55 cases, Kupwara 49 cases, Anantnag 47 cases, Ganderbal 40 cases, Kathua 27 cases, Bandipora 22 cases, Rajouri 17 cases, Baramulla 16 cases, Udhampur 15 cases, Samba 12 cases, Shopian, Kulgam and Kishtwar nine cases each, Doda and Poonch seven cases each and Ramban three cases. Srinagar reported eight fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Jammu three deaths. A death each was reported from Baramulla, Pulwama, Budgam, Anantnag, Shopian, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Rajouri districts. So far 603 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir with the number of such deaths in Jammu being 54. Srinagar has highest number of casualties with 208 deaths. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 704 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 195 from Jammu division and 509 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 34,480. Also 19 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and 15 from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 599 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 126 from Jammu Division and 473 from Kashmir Division. Out of 34,480 positive cases, 7,630 are active positive, 26,193 have recovered and 657 have died; 54 in Jammu division and 603 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 9, 02,677 test results available, 8, 68,197 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 4, 45,720 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43,764 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,630 in isolation and 44,146 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 49,523 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 8,553 positive cases, 1,552 active positive, 6,793 recovered, 208 deaths; Baramulla has 2,694 positive cases, 534 active positive, 2,061 recovered, 99 deaths; Pulwama has 2,442 positive cases, 473 active positive, 1,922 recovered, 47 deaths; Budgam has 2,271 positive cases, 599 active positive, 1,617 recovered, 55 deaths; Anantnag has 2,193 positive cases, 486 active positive, 1,660 recovered, 47 deaths. “Bandipora has 1,974 positive cases, 790 active positive, 1,160 recovered, 24 deaths; Kupwara has 1,943 positive cases, 623 active positive, 1,275 recovered, 45 deaths; Kulgam has 1,877 positive cases, 236 active positive, 1,610 recovered, 31 deaths; Shopian has 1,646 positive cases, 99 active positive, 1,519 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,279 positive cases, 586 active positive, 674 recovered, 19 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,561 positive cases, 744 active positive, 1,780 recovered, 37 deaths; Rajouri has 858 positive cases, 94 active positive, 760 recovered, four deaths; Kathua has 782 positive cases, 139 active positive, 641 recovered, two deaths; Udhampur has 752 positive cases, 115 active positive, 635 recovered, two deaths; Samba has 671 positive cases, 205 active positive, 464 recovered, two deaths. “Ramban has 651 positive cases, 23 active positive, 627 recovered, one death; Doda has 384 positive cases, 53 active positive, 329 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 383 positive cases, 73 active positive, 307 recovered, three deaths; Reasi has 360 positive cases, 179 active positive, 181 recovered and Kishtwar has 206 positive cases, 27 active positive, 178 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 34,480 positive cases in J&K, 6,171 have reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
