Locals demand establishment of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Pancheri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Aug 26: Locals of Pancheri have demanded opening up of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) at Pancheri on priority basis. Several inhabitants of various villages of tehsil Pancheri in district Udhampur said that the people here are living in far-flung areas where there are hardly any facilities while the quality of education is also poor, adding that if a KV is established here then the locals escpecially the students can avail the benefits of a better education. They said that it has come to the notice of public of Pancheri that 23 KVs are proposed to be set up in J&K with an object to give a fillip to quality education in far flung pockets of UT, adding that Pancheri is ideally suited to fulfill that aim. “Pancheri area having more than seventy thousand population is in dire need of a quality educational institution, like a Kendriya Vidyalaya. Government is covering far flung areas, but this backward, topographically tough, poverty-stricken area has been left untouched, evoking a sense of anger and disgust among locals,” they said. The locals informed that few days ago prominent people of the area submitted a memorandum demanding to set up a KV in Pancheri to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur through Tehsildar Pancheri. |
