Marwah teachers rue continues closure of ZEO office | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 3: The teachers hailing from remote Marwah area of Kishtwar District today rued continues closure of Office of Zonal Education Officer Marwah since last several months as a result of which the teacher community posted in the area is suffering immensely. The aggrieved teachers called upon Principal Secretary School Education to look into the matter and post full time ZEO Marwah so that the teacher community performing duties in this remotest part of the Union Territory that lacks even communication could not suffer any more. The representatives of Teachers Association Marwah today held a meeting under the leadership of Muzaffar Hussain Malik, President Teachers Association Marwah at ZEO office Marwah wherein detailed deliberations on various issues and problems took place. The main issue which remains in prime focus of speakers was the absenteeism of ZEO office officials and defunct system of Zone office Marwah as most of them were last seen in the office in the mid of 2019 and it is a routine now for them to come on duty once in a year for a week time just like tourists which is an open example for malfunctioning of zone office. They said that the reason for malfunctioning and absenteeism has been put forth by the posted incumbents to non-availability of internet access in the area, but it is not understood how only working of ZEO office officials is hampered here whereas SDM office, tehsil office and other offices are functioning properly. “They too might have some genuine problems in their routine official work but they never compromised on their duty at their respective offices located here at Marwah” angry teachers said, adding that the cure for the all ills is to declare the Division of zone Marwah into two administrative zones viz Marwah and Dachhan so that the topographical difficulties can be well addressed for the smooth functioning of the departmental work,” they said. The speakers further said that in absence of internet and communication lines in Marwah and Warwan areas, the students of these schools are suffering as they too fail to teach them through online mode and called upon the authorities to consider the Marwah area as special case for finding out alternative means of teaching so that students of this remote and unconnected areas could not suffer during ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. |
