SRINAGAR, Sept 3: For the first time since Corona Virus cases were reported in Jammu & Kashmir the number of cases in a single day crossed the figure of 1,000 as 1,079 COVID-19 cases were reported in the union territory today. With this the number of positive cases reached 39,943.
Jammu reported 484 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar 139 cases, Budgam 63 cases, Ganderbal 57 cases, Bandipora 49 cases, Pulwama 33 cases, Kupwara 30 cases, Shopian 28 cases, Anantnag 27 cases, Samba 26 cases, Kishtwar 22 cases, Kathua 21 cases, Kulgam 17 cases, Udhampur 16 cases, Rajouri 15 cases, Baramulla and Doda 14 cases each, Reasi 10 cases, Poonch eight cases and Ramban six cases.
As 11 more people died due to virus in past 24 hours the death toll reached 743 in Jammu & Kashmir. Srinagar reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by two deaths each in Jammu and Budgam districts and a death each in Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara and Kathua districts. So far 665 Corona Virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 78.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,079 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 622 from Jammu division and 457 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 39,943. Also 11 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and eight from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 680 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 104 from Jammu Division and 576 from Kashmir Division. Out of 39,943 positive cases, 8,441 are active positive, 30,759 have recovered and 743 have died; 78 in Jammu division and 665 in Kashmir division. Out of 10, 12,892 test results available, 9, 72,949 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 69,980 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,703 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 8,441 in isolation and 46,644 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 68,449 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 9,636 positive cases, 1,370 active positive, 8,038 recovered, 228 deaths; Baramulla has 2,876 positive cases, 485 active positive, 2,290 recovered, 101 deaths; Pulwama has 2,733 positive cases, 453 active positive, 2,225 recovered, 55 deaths; Budgam has 2,644 positive cases, 632 active positive, 1,948 recovered, 64 deaths; Anantnag has 2,416 positive cases, 506 active positive, 1,858 recovered, 52 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,284 positive cases, 726 active positive, 1,532 recovered, 26 deaths; Kupwara has 2,166 positive cases, 584 active positive, 1,532 recovered, 50 deaths; Kulgam has 1,961 positive cases, 141 active positive, 1,783 recovered, 37 deaths; Shopian has 1,731 positive cases, 97 active positive, 1,606 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,578 positive cases, 437 active positive, 1,117 recovered, 24 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 4,060 positive cases, 1,835 active positive, 2,173 recovered, 52 deaths; Kathua has 972 positive cases, 241 active positive, 726 recovered, five deaths; Rajouri has 949 positive cases, 159 active positive, 785 recovered, five deaths; Udhampur has 865 positive cases, 170 active positive, 692 recovered, three deaths; Samba has 764 positive cases, 191 active positive, 570 recovered, three deaths.
“Ramban has 667 positive cases, 21 active positive, 645 recovered, one death; Doda has 459 positive cases, 98 active positive, 357 recovered, four deaths; Poonch has 458 positive cases, 101 active positive, 353 recovered, four deaths; Reasi has 433 positive cases, 98 active positive, 335 recovered and Kishtwar has 291 positive cases, 96 active positive, 194 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 39,943 positive cases in J&K, 6,771 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
