DF&SS hails inclusion of Dogri as official language | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 3: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta celebrated the declaration of DOGRI as the official language of Jammu & Kashmir. Sweets were distributed and Dhols were beaten. It was an anomaly that the three languages — Dogri, Hindi and Kashmiri — which are spoken by nearly 70 per cent of the population of Jammu and Kashmir were not approved for use in official business. “The Cabinet decision today will not only bring ease of governance, but also ease of citizen participation in governance in the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This was along pending demand of the people of Jammu to declare Dogri as the official language of J and K. It is matter of pride and honour for all Dogras that Dogri language has been given due recognition as it will encourage the people to speak and contribute in their mother tongue. After the inclusion of Dogri in the 8th schedule, this decision is another feather in the cap of the people of Jammu who have been struggling to weed out discrimination to the region from decades since independence. Shiv Sena & Dogra Front congratulates the Dogras all over the world and India for this feat. |
