| AJKSIF condemns non-inclusion of Punjabi as J&K’s official language | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 3: All J&K Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum (AJKSIF) held a meeting through video conference under the chairmanship of Adv Amrik Singh and addressed by Surjit Singh General Secretary. At the outset of the meeting, Forum expressed their anguish over not including the Punjabi as J&K official language the language which is about 400 yrs old, adding that Dogri and other local languages are born out from Punjabi language. The Forum condemned the step motherly treatment with Punjabi speaking people and urged upon the Ministry of HRD to reconsider their genuine demands and give approval to Punjabi as 5th language of J&K UT for the interest of the justice with Punjabi speaking people. In this regard a deputation of All J&K Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum met with the chairman of the J&K Apni Party in presence of Manjeet Singh President of Jammu Province and submitted a memorandum. |
