Include Punjabi as official language of J&K: AJKPC | | | Early times Report
Jammu, Sep 3: All J&K Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) General Secretary and Sarpanch, Gandali of RS Pura, Gurdeep Singh Saini welcomed the Central Government’s decision of including Dogri, Urdu, Kashmiri, Hindi and English in official languages of J&K. Meanwhile Saini also criticized the Government for not including Punjabi as official languages in J&K. Saini expressed his concerns over non inclusion of Punjabi in official languages of Jammu and Kashmir since the said language is widely spoken all over the world. “This is a deep rooted conspiracy to eliminate the Punjabi culture from J&K. A large section in the UT speaks Punjabi and as a subject is also being taught in different Colleges, Universities,” Gurdeep said. “The Government must add Punjabi in Official Languages of J&K since the decision to exclude was widely condemned from all sections of society. This is depriving a particular section of society by excluding their mother tongue from Official Languages,” Saini said. He appealed to the people to come together on a single platform and ask the Government to include Punjabi in official languages of UT. AJKPC General Secretary Saini said that the government cannot ignore the Punjabi language and exclude it from the list. Punjabi is widely spoken from across the world including big countries like Australia and Canada, even officials at several Airports in Canada communicate in Punjabi only, he said.
