UDA demands CBI probe in multi-level car project on Panjbakhtar Temple land | | |

JAMMU, Sept 6: United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has extended full support to the ongoing agitation launched by Caretaker and Devotees of Panjbakhtar Mahadev temple in Jammu against the construction of multilayer parking and commercial complex on the temple land. In a statement issued here today, Rajiv Mahajan, Chief Spokesperson UDA, criticized the authorities of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) who with the involvement of unscrupulous elements have made an attempt to grab the temple land by floating tenders of multi-level car project on the temple land. Mahajan demanded stern action against NHIDCL officials for floating tenders without fulfilling the legal formalities like No Objection Certificates from Revenue and other government departments. He said that this was made a deliberate attempt to encroach the temple land, which has not been first time in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that there were several attempts were made in the past to grab the temple lands. He asserted that thousands of Kanals of land belonging to temples and shrines in Kashmir Valley have been grabbed under the nose of administration or we can also say that with the active involvement of government officials since the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley. Mahajan said that Panjbakhtar temple is the oldest constructed temple of Jammu and attached with the religious sentiments of people. He further said that Temple is in possession of 25 kanals of land out of which some land is being utilized as a parking while some shops and other areas have been rented out to some shopkeepers under proper lease. Mahajan urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to order a CBI probe in the entire matter for safeguarding the interests of the temple besides booking all those involved in the conspiracy and alleged manipulation of temple land record. Mahajan also raised serious concern over the several attempts being made by some anti-social elements who are trying to encroach the Dogra Shaurya Sthal Municipal Park Manda. He appealed to the Lt Governor that such elements should not be leave at any costs and they should be booked under the court of law.
