SRINAGAR, Sept 6: Jammu & Kashmir reported record 1,316 fresh cases of Corona Virus today as a result the total number of positive cases in the union territory reached 43,557. The death toll due to virus reached 784 with 14 fresh deaths reported in past 24 hours.
Jammu district reported 451 new cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 185 cases, Kupwara district 93 cases, Ganderbal district 82 cases, Budgam district 69 cases, Anantnag district 61 cases, Baramulla district 59 cases, Pulwama district 49 cases, Rajouri district 42 cases, Doda district 36 cases, Bandipora district 32 cases, Kathua district 31 cases, Samba district 28 cases, Poonch district 26 cases, Kishtwar district 19 cases, Udhampur district 17 cases, Kulgam district 11 cases, Ramban district 10 cases, Reasi district eight cases and Shopian district seven cases.
Srinagar and Jammu districts reported four fresh Corona Virus deaths in past 24 hours followed by a death each in Pulwama, Budgam, Kulgam, Rajouri, Kathua and Samba districts. So far 686 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 94. Srinagar has the highest number of deaths with 237 casualties.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,316 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 668 from Jammu division and 648 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 43,557. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; seven each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Moreover, 403 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 87 from Jammu Division and 316 from Kashmir Division. Out of 43,557 positive cases, 10,446 are active positive, 32,327 have recovered and 784 have died; 98 in Jammu division and 686 in Kashmir division. Out of 10, 74,998 test results available, 10, 31,441 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 77,902 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 41,386 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 10,446 in isolation and 48,789 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 76,497 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 10,165 positive cases, 1,429 active positive, 8,499 recovered, 237 deaths; Baramulla has 3,048 positive cases, 584 active positive, 2360 recovered, 104 deaths; Budgam has 2,867 positive cases, 735 active positive, 2,067 recovered, 65 deaths; Pulwama has 2,856 positive cases, 495 active positive, 2,304 recovered, 57 deaths; Anantnag has 2,560 positive cases, 540 active positive, 1,968 recovered, 52 deaths. “Kupwara has 2,382 positive cases, 701 active positive, 1,627 recovered, 54 deaths; Bandipora has 2,365 positive cases, 697 active positive, 1,642 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 1,997 positive cases, 130 active positive, 1,829 recovered, 38 deaths; Ganderbal has 1,753 positive cases, 481 active positive, 1,247 recovered, 25 deaths and Shopian has 1,746 positive cases, 105 active positive, 1,613 recovered, 28 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 5,353 positive cases, 2,971 active positive, 2,319 recovered, 63 deaths; Kathua has 1,070 positive cases, 302 active positive, 759 recovered, nine deaths; Rajouri has 1,031 positive cases, 206 active positive, 819 recovered, six deaths; Udhampur has 998 positive cases, 246 active positive, 748 recovered, four deaths; Samba has 828 positive cases 242 active positive, 582 recovered, four deaths.
“Ramban has 702 positive cases, 50 active positive, 651 recovered, one death; Doda has 529 positive cases, 147 active positive, 377 recovered, five deaths; Poonch has 506 positive cases, 132 active positive, 369 recovered, five deaths; Reasi has 447 positive cases, 108 active positive, 339 recovered and Kishtwar has 354 positive cases, 145 active positive, 208 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 43,557 positive cases in J&K, 7,037 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
