Will Nuclear Pak Army fall prey to Hizab-ul Tahir? | | | M.M.khajooria
The international outcry against Pakistan as the epicentre of Pan Islamic terrorism and her promotion of China at the expense of her own economy and strategic Gilgit- Balochistan, an integral part of India swallowed through aggression and deceit have tended to mask the existential crisis that threatens the Pakistan Army. The truth is that the two factions in the Army power structure- one effectively leaning towards Jihadees recruited , indoctrinated and promoted by that Mullah in Khaki, Gen Zia ul Haq and those of the Sandhurst model of professional army are strenuously and not very discreetly competing for control. The developments in Kashmir and within that country have generated palpable tension between the two. The open conflict is so far averted by the continuation of Gen. Bajwa as COAS who happens to enjoy the confidence of both warring factions. This explains the grant of extension to him as COAS through unprecedented procedure of doubtful constitutional validity. Not that every thing has been smooth and orderly in Pak army ever since its inception . Assassinations of top Political/military leaders including Prime Minister Liaqat Ali Khan and Army chief Gen.Zia leads whereof clearly pointed towards involvement of army. The findings of Inquiry commissions never saw the light of the day. Even mere mention of events of such great public importance was considered blasphemous entailing severe punishment. Number of Mutinies happened. In September 1995, a group of 36 Army officers was arrested for conspiring to kill the top civilian and military leadership in the country to establish Khilafat. The group, led by Maj. Gen. Zaheèr -ul Islam had spent millions of rupees for purchasing weapons from Darra Adamkhal, notorious for manufacturing arms illegally undoubtedly elements existed in the military, who wanted to violently overthrow the government structure in Pakistan to establish Khilafat.. Mutineers were eliminated. Every thing kept under wraps The spell was, however broken. When Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas, then Director General of ISPR revealed that Brig. Ali Khan was arrested for his links with Hizab-Ul-Tahir .Later four Majors were also arrested on the same charge. The News said “… but the reality he (Maj Gen Abbas) and rest of the army command face ,is that an unknown proportion of serving officers and men may be of radical persuasion and may pursue radical and extremists agendas from their positions in the ranks or officer cadre” Brig. Ali Khan was arrested on General Kayani’s order on May 6. But the public was told about the arrest on June 21 just a day after the government appointed two commissions under two Supreme Court judges to investigate the Abbottabad episode and killing of journalist Salim Shahzad, allegedly by the 1S1 for revealing that a section of Navy officers in Mehran Navy Base supported Al-Qaeda Brig. Khans’ lawyer Imam Rahim, however maintained that his client was taken into custody four days after the killing of Osama bin Ladin . The reason for the arrest according to him was his out spoke questioning at the meeting addressed by then Army Chief Kayani about Abbotabad raid to kill Osama The lawyer said “Brig. Ali demanded if Osama bin Ladin was there and our forces remained unaware then those who failed to track him must be held accountable .Likewise. if Osama was not there and nevertheless the operation was held , even then the responsibility has to be fixed”. He also questioned the luxurious life style of top Brass in the army Hizb-ut-Tahrir, to which Brig. Mi Khan and four arrested Majors had links, was reportedly founded in Jerusalem more than sixty years ago with the objective of reviving the caliphate. It claimed adherence of about three million in 40 countries. It strongest desire is to infiltrate the Pakistani Army, topple the government there and bring that country’s nuclear power under its control. Its success became evident in 2003 when some military officers were arrested on charges of plotting a coup. The arrested officers had become members of Tehrir when they were in England for training at the Sandhurst Military Academy. This Academy is one place where Tehrir’s activists catch Pakistani military officers. The Hizab maintained the facade of a non-violent political movement but shamelessly shared the obscurantist Islamic ideology of Al-Qaeda and Taliban who call democracy a “Kufr” and promote global terrorism. Hizb ut-Tahrir working for the reestablishment of the Khilafah has emerged as the single largest Islamic political party on the world. Scene . Hizb ut-Tahrir published a huge number of books, booklets and leaflets to eliminate the “misconceptions and confusions” in the Ummah related to the systems implemented in the Khilafah State. A chapter each is dedicated for ruling system, economic system, judicial system, social system, foreign policy, internal policy, education policy and media. I have come across extracts from a Leaflet [ dated17 Dec 2010) addressed to the Armed forces of Pakistan which said it all. “O Muslims! Deliver this letter to all the sincere within Pakistan’s armed forces that you know “Establish the Khilafah, even though Pakistan’s traitor rulers hate ite largely been ignored. armed forces! You are leading the largest and most capable Muslim armed forces in the world. The Muslim armed forces alone have the material strength to establish the Khilafah.” It is amazing indeed tragic that the very existence and subversive activities of the Hizab that poses grave security of Pak Nuclear arsenal received scant attention. This suicidal attitude needs to be shed forth with. The very real danger of Hizab take over of the assets should worry the world community in general and us in India in particular. The environment in Pakistan is favourable to the Hizab with powerful Army command fractured, the economy in shambles and country’s’ prestige in the world community at all time low. |
