62-year old woman died of COVID-19 in Kishtwar | 12 members of family found Corona positive, rise in cases create panic | | ASIF IQBAL NAIK Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 9: A 62-year old woman today died due to COVID-19 at District Hospital Kishtwar while 12 members of a family were among the positive cases reported from Kishtwar district in last few days as a result of which panic had gripped the Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas. As per the details available with Early Times, the deceased woman was brought to District Hospital Kishtwar by her family members where she breathed her last and after conducting the COVID test, the deceased lady found to be positive. Later the hospital authorities packed the dead body as per the protocol and handed it over to the family members for burial where only few people were allowed. Meanwhile, around 100 cases were reported from various areas of Kishtwar district in last one week including 12 family members which include a health department employee. Around one dozen front line Heath workers including a senior doctor has tested positive at District Hospital Kishtwar in last few weeks. Earlier, 8 members of a family were found positive in Kishtwar town. Keeping in view of the surfacing of huge number of COVID-19 cases from Zelena and Sangrambhata area close to Zelna village, the administration has declared the area as contaminated/Red Zone. Earlier, District administration has also imposed restrictions in areas like Matta, Behra Bhata and Hatta after several people hailing from these areas tested positive for COVID-19. The official sources told the Early Times that around 13 COVID positive cases were today reported from Behera Bhata area itself while at the same time the reports of fresh positive cases have emerged from different areas of the Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas. Dangdoru Project site continue to be the hub of the virus from where more than 60 positive cases have been reported so far while the rapid test of the population surrounding the area are being consducted after the District Administration received fresh consignment of Rapid testing kits. A senior KAS officer has also been tested positive for COVID-19 few days ago while another senior KAS officer from adjoining Doda District also tested positive for the virus. In late night order ADC Bhaderwah has imposed ban on sale of medicines related to respiratory infection, cough & fever without doctor's prescription and all the shop owners have been asked to report such cases if comes into their notice. Keeping in view of the spike in number of cases, the people in Doda and Kishtwar Districts demanded immediate imposition of lockdown to prevent the community spread of the disease. The people said that local authorities could not act as mute spectators and allow the situation to get out of their hands. |
