SIE Jammu allegedly misappropriates school fund | TA of several employees withdrawn without approval | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: Tall claims of the School Education Department (SED) about weeding out corruption from the system have proved to be a hoax as it has not taken the cognizance of alleged misutilization of the Middle Standard Fund by the State Institute of Education (SIE) Jammu. Sources told Early Times that the Middle Standard Fund, which is collected from the students of government schools as examination charges and has to be spent exclusively for the purpose has been ostensibly misused for bearing travel expenses of many employees for their official visits to other states and conducting trainings but no prior approval was taken from higher authority for its use. They further said that though the higher authorities took several steps in the shape of transfers of such employees, who had been sitting at vital positions for decades and were reportedly found involved in corrupt practices but there are several areas in the department where still gross violations are taking place and the SED has not taken any action till date. “In order to utilize this fund, a mandatory approval is needed from the Director School Education, but no permission was sought from authority concerned and the fund was utilized according to its convenience in violation of guidelines,” they alleged. They further informed that the Travelling Allowances (TA) was withdrawn in favour of some employees of SIE, who visited Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi etc. out of this fund. “Not only this, even expenses incurred in training, which were held in the institute were made from this head by SIE Jammu,” they further alleged. Despite several attempts to contact the Director School Education Jammu for her version but she didn’t respond.
