JAMMU, Sept 9: To ensure the safety and welfare of University employees, a mandatory Rapid Antigen Testing was organized by the University of Jammu in collaboration with District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and Medical Officer in CMO Office on September 7-8, 2020 at Gymnasium Hall (Back side of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education), Old Administration Block and the Business School. Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu and Dr Bharat Bhushan, Medical Officer, University Health Centre, JU coordinated the event. The drive went off very successfully wherein 1943 persons which include some family members and few employees of government offices from adjoining areas were tested, of which 154 were detected corona positive. To contain the spread of the coronavirus, the University of Jammu has been closed for three days. As a precautionary step all employees are advised to adhere to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home and Family Welfare and SOPs issued by the JKUT Government from time to time and the orders issued by the Registry, University of Jammu. A meeting of Review Committee under the Chairmanship of Prof Manoj K Dhar was held today in the office of the Dean Students Welfare and attended by Prof Neetu Andotra, Registrar, Prof Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Medical Officer, University Health Centre and S R Dubey, Chief Security Officer, Suresh Sharma , incharge Sanitation Wing at University of Jammu, to finalize the next phase of action which included extensive sanitization & fumigation to be conducted by University Health Centre and Jammu Municipal Corporation, preparedness of the Medical Officer to provide assistance if an employee and his/her family is detected as Covid positive during the test and to promptly redress the examination and admission related grievances of the students. During the meeting, the schedule for complete sanitization and fumigation was finalized and the process was initiated by the Vice Chancellor from the Old Administrative Block. It was further decided that 24x7 health consultations and guidance facilities shall be available to the employees and their family members tested Covid positive by the Medical Officer, University Health Centre. Keeping in view the demand of employees and their family members, it was decided to organize a Special Testing drive in near future. The Vice Chancellor and all the above members took a round of campus, including the Post Office and J&K Bank area and directions were passed to the Security Guards.
