Govt failed to provide better healthcare under PMJAY: BSP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 9: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), J&K unit, launched a scathing attack on the government alleging that common man is not getting the benefits of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) for the motive the scheme has been introduced years back. In a statement issued today, Somraj Majotra, President J&K BSP unit, said that the masses are not reaping the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and questioned the functioning of the government scheme while asking how many people so far have been benefited under the said scheme belonging to weaker sections of the society. “The Scheme has either eventually failed or the functionality of the government is faulty since we can hardly see any unprivileged person benefitted under PMJAY,” Somraj said. Emphasizing that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana also described as ‘Modicare’, is conceptually wrong, Majotra said that this scheme is not adequate for common masses since it doesn’t cover diabetic and high/low Blood Pressure (BP) patients as being two common ailments in India. The senior BSP leader asserted that the people belonging to weaker sections of society are not getting adequate healthcare under Center’s PMJAY scheme because it excludes Outpatient treatment. Somraj said that the PMJAY scheme is mockery on the name of healthcare as the government has failed to serve the masses in general and weaker sections in particular under the Scheme. “Country does not need health insurance which benefits private players but health assurance which benefits and helps the common man,” the senior BSP leader said and asked the government to come up with a concrete Health Scheme to provide better healthcare to masses in a hassle free manner.
