Bharti sisters demand Dogri language promotion, Duggar channel in LG’s meeting | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: Prominent Bharti sisters have demanded promotion of Dogri language and exclusive Duggar channel during their meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Udhampur district. Mr Sinha as a part of his outreach programme on Tuesday visited Udhampur and held meetings with administration, civilians and others. Cultural activists Sars Bharti and Pooja Bharti during the meeting demanded exclusive Duggar channel for a wider reach of Dogri and other folk languages of Jammu region to people across the globe. “We demanded Duggar channel and promotion of all folk languages including Dogri so that it reaches to every nook and corner of the world to the people of this region settled abroad,” Sars Bharti here said. The cultural activist further said, “introducing Dogri language as a mandatory subject in all private and government schools was also one of the demands raised in the meeting.” She said that the Dogri songs, poems they have penned down during Corona period, were also sung by the duo in front of the LG. The Bharti Sisters projected demand for exclusive Doordarshan Duggar Channel and its wide outreach in rural areas and many other cultural issues related to culture as well as mother tongue Dogri. Sars Bharti and Pooja Bharti are daughters of renowned folk singer Romalo Ram, who is famous for his “Geetru” dance.
