Kulgam, Sept 11: Alleging nepotism and corruption, a group of aspirants on Friday said that the health officials posted in Kulgam district of South Kashmir blatantly violated its own recruitment rules to recruit blue-eyed candidates.
“The criteria mentioned in the notification was that only diploma holders possessing General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) will be eligible but surprisingly the department has allotted 21 slots to those aspirants who done Bachelors and Masters degrees in Nursing despite the fact that they weren’t eligible for the advertised pots,” aspirants said.
The angry aspirants raised high-pitched slogans against the Health Department and alleged the officials who looked after the recruitment process have apparently indulged in nepotism and corrupt practices.
“How recruiters can set-aside eligibility criteria and allow aspirants with higher qualification to apply for this post (Junior Staff Nurse,” they rued.
Chief Medical Officer Kulgam, who is also the Convener of District Health Society Kulgam, had issued an advertisement notice [CMO/plg/Adv/2020-21/2389-93 dated 23-07-2020] to fill around 52 vacancies including the 42 vacancies of Junior Staff Nurses.
Those candidates, who had qualified class 10th Examination and had a diploma in Staff Nurse Training Course from SMF or any other recognized institute, were only eligible to apply for the post Junior Staff Nurse, reveal documents available with Early Times.
The documents also reveal that out of 100 points, screening test would carry 75 points, Class 10th qualification 10 points and Diploma Staff Nurse Training would carry 15 respectively.
The aspirants allege that the Health authorities have fraudulently accepted the application forms of those candidates who don’t have the requisite qualification.
“In the advertisement notification Degree is nowhere mentioned as requisite qualification for applying to the post of Junior Staff Nurse but in the list released by the department they have accepted the Degrees of candidates and given them points,” they said.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam, Dr. Fazil Kochak told media that the aspirants were free to file objections.
