SRINAGAR, Sept 11: There seems to be no let up in Corona Virus cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 1,578 fresh cases of virus were reported today. The death toll due to the virus reached 854 as nine more people died in the past 24 hours.
Jammu district reported 415 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 267 cases, Budgam district 176 cases, Udhampur district 101 cases, Bandipora district 70 cases, Kupwara district 66 cases, Rajouri district 64 cases, Poonch district 49 cases, Ganderbal district 47 cases, Samba district 44 cases, Baramulla district 43 cases, Kishtwar district 42 cases, Anantnag district 41 cases, Kathua district 38 cases, Pulwama district 34 cases, Ramban district 27 cases, Doda district 26 cases, Kulgam district 18 cases, Shopian district eight cases and Reasi district two cases.
Jammu district reported six fresh Corona Virus deaths while as Srinagar, Baramulla and Budgam districts reported a death each. So far 717 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 137. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 247 deaths.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,578 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 808 from Jammu division and 770 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 50,712. Also 09 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; six from Jammu division and three from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 474 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 137 from Jammu Division and 337 from Kashmir Division. Out of 50,712 positive cases, 15,169 are active positive, 34,689 have recovered and 854 have died; 137 in Jammu division and 717 in Kashmir division. Out of 11, 77,773 test results available, 11, 27,061 samples have tested negative till date.

Till date 5, 09,482 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,577 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 15,169 in isolation and 53,048 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 97,834 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 11,243 positive cases, 1,796 active positive, 9,200 recovered, 247 deaths; Budgam has 3,457 positive cases, 1,140 active positive, 2,248 recovered, 69 deaths; Baramulla has 3,317 positive cases, 795 active positive, 2,411 recovered, 111 deaths; Pulwama has 3069 positive cases, 455 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,803 positive cases, 692 active positive, 2,058 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Kupwara has 2,676 positive cases, 855 active positive, 1,765 recovered, 56 deaths; Bandipora has 2,628 positive cases, 727 active positive, 1,874 recovered, 27 deaths; Kulgam has 2,059 positive cases, 122 active positive, 1,897 recovered, 40 deaths; Ganderbal has 1,980 positive cases, 525 active positive, 1,430 recovered, 25 deaths and Shopian has 1,805 positive cases, 98 active positive, 1,678 recovered, 29 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 7,697 positive cases, 5,150 active positive, 2,466 recovered, 81 deaths; Udhampur has 1,295 positive cases, 476 active positive, 815 recovered, four deaths; Rajouri has 1,281 positive cases, 440 active positive, 827 recovered, 14 deaths; Kathua has 1,243 positive cases, 378 active positive, 854 recovered, 11 deaths; Samba has 979 positive cases, 355 active positive, 617 recovered, seven deaths.
“Ramban has 763 positive cases, 109 active positive, 653 recovered, one death; Poonch has 728 positive cases, 332 active positive, 390 recovered, six deaths; Doda has 665 positive cases, 269 active positive, 387 recovered, nine deaths; Reasi has 537 positive cases, 188 active positive, 346 recovered, three deaths and Kishtwar has 487 positive cases, 267 active positive, 219 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 50,712 positive cases in J&K, 7,457 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
