Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 2: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today said that terrorism will be eliminated with the support of the local population of Kashmir Valley. He said that local population of J&K is against terrorism but some forces, outside J&K, are fueling bloodshed and destructions.
In an interview with the national TV channel, the Lt Governor said that since long people of J&K are bearing brunt of the terrorism and now they want to get rid of this menace for the better future of their younger generations. “Geographically terrorism is confined only to 10 percent of the total area of J&K”, he said.
Emphasizing on the importance of local support to end terrorism, the Lt Governor narrated example of Punjab where terrorism was wiped out with the active support of local population. “Although security forces valiantly fought militancy in Punjab to restore lasting peace, terrorism was ended in Punjab when people of that state had stopped supporting militancy”, he said, adding, “I am also working on the same line in J&K”.
The Lt Governor exuded confidence that “with the support of the local population of J&K, evil designs of neighbouring country (Pakistan) will be frustrated to establish sustainable and lasting peace”.
Replying to another question on former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah’s statement ‘regarding’ support of China to restore Article 370, he said, “I want to say one thing that who remained on the constitutional posts should respect the Constitution because they too had taken oath of the same”.
