POONCH, Nov 8: The residents of Salani panchayat of Mankote area in Sub division Mendhar of Poonch district have decided to boycott DDC elections as they alleged that the locals are deprived of basic necessity like water.
The Sarpanch Salani, Abdul Khaliq said that the Water Supply Scheme in their area is defunct for last many years , adding that the water line which went out of order about a year ago could not be repaired till date due to which the locals are suffering badly. He said that the administrative apathy of the PHE Sub Division Mendhar can be gauged from the fact the residents of Salani panchayat, Block Mankote are forced to drink polluted water from a nearby stream
Sarpanch Abdul Khalid said that they continuously contacted administrative officials through social media like twitter and had telephonic conversations with concerned AEE and JE, Jal Shakti Department but only assurances were given and nothing on ground was delivered. |
