Udhampur, Nov 11: Need based workers as well as casual labourers from departments like PHE, PWD and PDD have been carrying out strike demanding release of their pending salaries of the last 12 months or above and regularization of their services here today has entered about 40 day. The protesting workers informed that their families are on the verge of starvation and the government should do something for them so that they can have their both ends meet. Des Raj, 64, a need base worker from Ram Nagar tehsil in district Udhampur said that he retired from PHE department on his own after waiting for years together to see his services getting regularized. With tears in eyes he told reporters that he took the retirement decision on his own and still has 55 months wages pending. “Whenever I visited the office of concerned officers they said that there were no funds available for the wages,” he maintained. Shobe Ram, another PWD need base worker said that they met many leaders of ruling party for their demands and prominent among those remained MoS PMO, Dr Jatinder Singh and BJP J&K president, Ravinder Raina. |
