Not privy to agenda of PAGD, says J&K Congress President | | | Early Times Report ANANTNAG, Nov 19: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday said that neither his party was part of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) nor they were privy to its agenda. "Due to Bihar elections we couldn't attend the three PAGD meetings. As such I am not aware about the agenda that they set or discussed during those meetings. So if we or my national leaders are saying that we aren't part of PAGD it is correct because we aren't a participatory part of it," Ghulam Ahmad Mir told Early Times at his residence in Imoh Verinag. Clamming that a meeting which was attended by his deputy in Srinagar wasn't PAGD Meeting, Mir said that one of his party leader attended the meeting to discuss seat sharing proposal. "Meeting which was attended by Mr Monga Shab wasn't a meeting conveyed PAGD. The likeminded parties had constituted a committee and conveyed a meeting to discuss seat sharing proposal," he said. Mir said that labeling political parties who decided to contest elections under the constitution as a 'Gang' was unfortunate. "In congress call all those who decide to contest elections under the constitution as mainstream political parties," Mir said while taking a jibe at Amit Shah for his controversial remarks on PAGD. He said that before labeling political parties, Union Home Minister Amit Shah should remember that National Conference continues to be its ally in Kargil. Mir said that they welcomed the elections and were hopefully that DDC election may fulfill the current political vacuum in Jammu and Kashmir. Shah on Tuesday termed the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), a conglomerate of political parties in Jammu and Kashmir, an "unholy global alliance" and alleged that it, along with the Congress, wants to take Jammu and Kashmir back to terror and turmoil. In a series of tweets, Shah alleged that political parties affiliated with Gupkar Alliance desired the intervention of foreign hands in Jammu and Kashmir. |
