Spike in Covid cases: Authorities in J&K are not prepared to check Delhi’s impact | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 19: While as the Centre has rushed high-level teams to Haryana and Rajasthan to minimize impact of Delhi’s Covid situation, authorities in J&K appear to be non-serious in dealing with those who are coming from the Union capital. Authorities have not deployed special to teams to check those who are coming from Delhi where Coronavirus cases are increasing with every passing day. Highly placed sources during the last one week, Union Capital is witnessing a spike in Covid cases but authorities in J&K have yet to take some steps to keep a watch on those who are entering the UT from Delhi. There is fear among residents of J&K authorities that a casual approach towards dealing with those who are coming from Delhi will prove disastrous for the UT. Instead of taking some effective steps to test the passengers coming from Delhi, authorities are treating all passengers with a similar yardstick. The sharp spike in cases after a months-long lull has also put pressure on hospitals - more than half the available beds are already occupied. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to the Union Government asking for more beds at government hospitals as public pressure mounts. With a spike in daily new COVID-19 cases and fatalities in Delhi, the spill-over effect was being observed in the neighbouring states. |
