WCC wins ‘Martyr Dy SP Aman Thakur Cricket Tournament’ | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Nov 19: In order to pay homage to the martyred Dy. SP Aman Thakur who laid down his life for upholding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation while fight militants in Kulgam District, District Police Kishtwar under the ages of SSP Kishtwar Dr. Harmeet Singh Mehta organised a Cricket Tournament in memory of the late police officer in which 42 teams from District Kishtwar participated in knockout based tournament which today finally won by Worriers Cricket Club Kishtwar by defeating Asrariya Cricket Club Kishtwar by 30 runs. The final of the tournament was played at historic Chowgan ground Kishtwar which was attended by DIG DKR Range Abdul Jabbar, senior officials of police, army, CRPF, large number of civilians who enthralled with the high standard game of Cricket played in today’s final by both the teams. After winning the toss, Warriors Cricket Club elected to bat and set the target of 153 runs for Asrariya Cricket Club. Team Warriors started its inning at low scoring rate, but at the end some of its batsmen attack the Asrariya bowlers by scoring around 54 runs in last 4 overs. Captain Majid Rangrez remain the top scorer for his team with 36 runs which include two monster sixes, Mubashir score 25 runs, Sawan 22 runs for his team, but quick fire 26 runs by Adil and 22 runs by Mohammad Ashraf helps the Worriers to post respectable total for Asrariya to chase. |
