Jammu, Nov 24: A fifteen days training programme on ‘Scientific Interventions to Improve Productivity of Dairy Animals’ under Operation Sadbhavna sponsored by Tiger Division of Indian Army commenced at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R.S. Pura campus, SKUAST-Jammu. The training program is focused for the unemployed rural youth and ex-servicemen of the army (fifteen in numbers), so that they can start their own enterprises in a scientific manner with more productivity and thereby more profitability. Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-J was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Sharma was of the view that Dairy animals are an important source of income, food, and nutritional security, and improvements in the productivity of dairy animals substantially improve the wellbeing of smallholder dairy farmers. Prof. Sharma said the slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and Jai Vigyan rightly fits to this type of collaborative training programme. Col. Mohd. Ali, CO, 118 Medium Regiment, Tiger Division, Jammu was the Guest of Honour in the inaugural session. He congratulated the trainees for being selected for this highly specialized scientific course on dairy farming. He emphasized that such type of training will boost the morale of farming community to take dairy farming as a source of employment generation in a big way. The programme was also attended by Major Pankaj of 118 Medium Regiment,Tiger Division, Jammu. Prof. M.S. Bhadwal, Course Director cum Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry briefly highlighted the importance of this course and gave the detailed presentation of the course content. At the outset, Dr Pranav Kumar, Course Coordinator cum Assistant Professor, Division of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education welcomed the dignitaries and participants and gave brief introduction about the training programme. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sunil Kumar, Professor cum Course coordinator, Division of Livestock Products Technology. Prof. Kamal Sarma, Convenor cum Head of Division of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education and Course Co-coordinator, Dr Arvind Kumar were also present during the inaugural session of training programme. |
