11/24/2020 11:50:52 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 24: Highlighting the plight of people of border town Mendhar, Dr Shazad Malik, former Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University and a native of Poonch today demanded action against the delinquent officers of the Public health department (Jal Shakti ) including Assistant Executive Engineer of PHE Sub Division Mendhar who most often remain out of his office and seldom attend his duties. Dr Shazad made a fervent appeal to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam and Chief Engineer PHE Jammu to call records of attendance register and movement register of the said AEE and hold a high level probe to find the truth about the number of days in a month the concerned officer spends in the border town.
Shazad alleged that most of the water supply schemes in Mendhar town are non-functional but the senior officers are not sincere in listening to the genuine problems of the people.
He said millions of rupees were spent to execute, install these schemes and million are even as on date spent for so called maintenance of these schemes on paper but on ground the situation is totally different.
The former VC said it is unfortunate that people of Block, Mankote, Balkote and Mendhar are harassed by the PHE department. He also accused the senior officers of the PHE department of Mendhar for exploiting the junior local staff, he said these field staff members including technicians and linemen are not given any tools and gazettes and they manage these kits at their own whereas the officers withdraw bills worth lacs for kits and uniforms of these field staff members.
