CITU stages protest demonstration against labour law | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 26: On the call of 10 Central Trade Unions, Independent Federations and Associations for countrywide general strike a large number of workers from different sectors working in organized and unorganized sector held a protest demonstration at Press Club Jammu in support of their joint demands including halt to change labor laws, 7500/- cash transfer to non-income tax payee, 10 kgs ration to all, employment to MGNREGA workers, no privatization of public sectors, providing safety gears to frontline warriors etc. While addressing the workers Sham Parsad Kesar Sr. Leader of State CITU condemned that more than 10 states ruled by BJP and congress made draconian changes in labor laws and enhanced daily working hours from 8 hours to 12 hours with silent approval of government of India which the working class achieved through its 150 years struggle and sacrifices, government failed in getting its own orders and advisories implemented in regard to payment of wages and retrenchment during the lockdown period. Instead, it withdrew its own decision in the face of the case in Supreme Court by the employers of some companies. He further said that government did not heed to demands of cash transfer of Rs.7500/- to all non income tax paying households neither the demands for government support to pay the wages of workers of MSMEs for the lockdown period neither our demand for workers safe journey home paid attention to by the Modi government. |
