Common people penalized, big political rallies ignored | Non-wearing of masks, violation of SOPs | | ASHWANI SHARMA
EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, NOV 26: While the Municipal authorities in the town is busy in penalizing the violators for not wearing face masks and not adhering to other Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), no attention is being paid to the violations of COVID-19 guidelines by the political parties while organizing big rallies ahead of DDC polls. It has been observed that the candidates contesting District Development Council elections are holding huge rallies while filing their nominations which is clear violation of the SOPs issued from time to time. “Rules are only for common people while those having any link with some political party enjoy immunity,” Arun Kumar, a student told this reporter. Many more people also expressed similar concern and said that the action should not be taken selectively as all are equal in the eyes of law. “The authorities concerned should take strict action against all the violators of social distancing and those not wearing face masks as the situation has improved in Udhampur after very hard work and if such negligence continues worse days are there in store,” a social activist said. Some senior citizens have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to strictly act against the violators of guidelines as a third wave of pandemic has already gripped some parts of the country. |
