NMC urges Centre to release DA in favor of employees | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 5: Reiterating its earlier demand regarding revoking the decision of the Central Govt. with regard to freezing of release of DA instalments till June 2021 in favor of both central/states and UTS. Employees and pensioners, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC)Subash Shastri today appealed to the Prime's Minister, Union Finance Minister and Minister of State Finance to reconsider the decision, since the instalments of the dearness allowance (DA) are additional supporting financial assistance to cope up the additional burden day to day rising prices of essential commodities and COVID-19 pandemic. "Reconsideration of the earlier decision of the Central Govt. has become inevitable, dearness relief is not wage increase its just a compensation against the erosion of real wages and the cost of living," Shastri and others said this in three separate memorandums sent to them. Stressing on the need of challenges being faced by the government employees and pensioners due to on-going COVID-19,Shastri pointed out the salaried class of the country are the forefront of battle against COVID-19,risking their safety and life are doing ordinary service to the nation by taking enormous risk adding that freezing of DA will severely impact life and living of salaried class and pensioners. He said this is the only source with them to cater the dearness needs and demanded an early release of two instalments of 4 and 5% DA due from January last and July 1,2020 to both central/ States and UTS. employees and pensioners, so that employees and pensioners would get sigh of relief from the price index. Shastri and other NMC activists hope that the Central Govt. shall release these two pending instalments dearness allowance in upcoming union cabinet meeting so that employees and pensioners would celebrate Diwali and others festivals with fervor and enthusiasm Shastri and others however hailed the decision of the Central Govt. in granting Bonus to their employees in view of festivals season.
