JEHANGIR RASHID Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 5: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 501 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 12,757. With 12 deaths being reported in past 24 hours the death toll due to the virus reached 1742. Jammu district reported 147 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 92 cases, Budgam district 40 cases, Udhampur district 34 cases, Pulwama district 22 cases, Kupwara and Kishtwar 18 cases each, Doda district 16 cases, Bandipora district 13 cases, Baramulla, Anantnag, Ramban and Reasi districts 12 cases each, Ganderbal district 11 cases, Shopian, Kathua and Samba districts 10 cases each, Rajouri district six cases, Kulgam district four cases and Poonch district two cases. Bandipora district in Kashmir division and Kathua district in Jammu division each reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Jammu district with two deaths and a death each in Srinagar, Anantnag, Budgam and Doda districts. So far 1,125 virus related deaths have occurred in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 617. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 501 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 267 from Jammu division and 234 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 12,757. Also 12 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; six from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 469 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 243 from Jammu Division and 226 from Kashmir Division. Out of 1, 12,757 positive cases, 5,009 are active positive, 1, 06,006 have recovered and 1,742 have died; 617 in Jammu division and 1,125 in Kashmir division. Out of 31, 48,894 test results available, 30, 36,137 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 04,184 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 20,185 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5,009 in isolation and 31,134 in home surveillance. Besides, 7, 46,114 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 23,591 positive cases, 1,187 active positive, 21,978 recovered, 426 deaths; Baramulla has 7,563 positive cases, 209 active positive, 7,191 recovered, 163 deaths; Budgam has 7,085 positive cases, 285 active positive, 6,697 recovered, 103 deaths; Kupwara has 5,262 positive cases, 217 active positive, 4,960 recovered, 85 deaths; Pulwama has 5,181 positive cases, 160 active positive, 4,935 recovered, 86 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,603 positive cases, 127 active positive, 4,396 recovered, 80 deaths; Bandipora has 4,481 positive cases, 130 active positive, 4,296 recovered, 55 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,272 positive cases, 171 active positive, 4,062 recovered, 39 deaths; Kulgam has 2,612 positive cases, 63 active positive, 2,498 recovered, 51 deaths and Shopian has 2,378 positive cases, 77 active positive, 2,264 recovered, 37 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 21,297 positive cases, 782 active positive, 20,201 recovered, 314 deaths; Udhampur has 3,779 positive cases, 453 active positive, 3,275 recovered, 51 deaths; Rajouri has 3,579 positive cases, 197 active positive, 3,332 recovered, 50 deaths; Doda has 3,192 positive cases, 169 active positive, 2,966 recovered, 57 deaths; Kathua has 2,867 positive cases, 94 active positive, 2,731 recovered, 42 deaths. "Kishtwar has 2,562 positive cases, 234 active positive, 2,309 recovered, 19 deaths; Samba has 2,545 positive cases, 216 active positive, 2,296 recovered, 33 deaths; Poonch has 2,404 positive cases, 49 active positive, 2,333 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 1,988 positive cases, 93 active positive, 1,875 recovered, 20 deaths and Reasi has 1,516 positive cases, 96 active positive, 1,411 recovered, nine deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 12,757 positive cases in J&K, 10,864 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
