| Admin demolishes illegal structure on irrigation land in Makhanpur Gujjran | | | RAJESH TANDON

JAMMU, Dec 9: Taking cognizance of the news item published in Early Times about the illegal construction on irrigation land in panchayat Makhanpur Gujjran in Miran Sahib, the concerned administration today took action and demolished the illegally raised structure. The local residents appreciated the action of the concerned administration, which was actually taken after the Deputy Commissioner Jammu intervened into the matter. Pertinently, a panchayat representative of panchayat Makhanpur Gujjran of Block Miran Sahib in RS Pura and his son had grabbed the irrigation land and constructed a shop on it. Despite registration of complaint with Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) R S Pura, who further marked the same to the concerned AEE Irrigation Department no action was taken against the encroachers. The alleged panchayat representative had constructed a slab on the irrigation canal due to which the width of tributaries had decreased, which had resulted in reduced flow of water. ET correspondent when informed the DC Jammu about the action, she appreciated the effort of Early Times for highlighting the issue. She said that the action against illegal encroachment could have been possible only because of the media. |
