7 days online meditation course concludes | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 13: In recent years, the various health benefits of meditation have become more and more acknowledged by the scientific community as well as the layman. While initially, research concentrated more on the physiological benefits of meditation, there have recently been an increasing number of studies on the various psychological benefits, too. Research has found meditation to produce positive and demonstrable stress reduction effects on brain and immune functions and re-establishes mental harmony when practiced regularly and is thus a vital adjunct to any programme for maintaining and promoting physical, mental and spiritual health. With this aim, GDC Vijaypur organized a 7 days Online Meditation Course at no cost for improving concentration, stress relief, peaceful life and restful sleep from 6th December at 7.00pm daily in which students, research scholars and faculty members participated with great zeal, enthusiasm and fervor. Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the college expressed her gratitude to the participants for making the 7 day online programme a grand success and exhorted that meditation is believed to gradually reduce the sympathetic dominance resulting in better balance between sympathetic and para-sympathetic bringing about a hypometabolic state which results in decreased heart rate and blood pressure. The reduction of lactic acid brought about by meditation is supposed to be a sign of tension free and peaceful state of mind thereby promoting well-being. |
