SRINAGAR, Dec 22: Total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 18,803 as 308 new cases of virus were reported today. The death toll due to the virus reached 1850 as six deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. Jammu district reported 99 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 65 cases, Budgam district 21 cases, Reasi district 16 cases, Baramulla, Udhampur and Samba districts 14 cases each, Pulwama district 12 cases, Rajouri district 10 cases, Bandipora and Kathua districts seven cases each, Doda and Kishtwar districts six cases each, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Kulgam districts four cases each, Kupwara and Poonch districts two cases each and Shopian district one case. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported two fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by a death each in Samba, Reasi, and Doda districts in Jammu division and Kupwara district in Kashmir valley. So far 1,169 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while the number of such deaths in Jammu division is 681. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 308 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 174 from Jammu division and 134 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 18,803. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; five from Jammu division and one from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 281 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 111 from Jammu division and 170 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 18,803 positive cases, 3,646 are active positive, 1, 13,307 have recovered and 1,850 have died; 681 in Jammu division and 1,169 in Kashmir division. Out of 35, 81,035 test results available, 34, 62,232 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 52,990 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 18,844 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,646 in isolation and 28,182 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 00,468 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 24,816 positive cases, 679 active positive, 23,694 recovered, 443 deaths; Baramulla has 7,866 positive cases, 162 active positive, 7,534 recovered, 170 deaths; Budgam has 7,454 positive cases, 185 active positive, 7,163 recovered, 106 deaths; Kupwara has 5,457 positive cases, 147 active positive, 5,221 recovered, 89 deaths; Pulwama has 5,440 positive cases, 184 active positive cases, 5,168 recovered, 88 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,748 positive cases, 121 active positive, 4,545 recovered, 82 deaths; Bandipora has 4,617 positive cases, 98 active positive, 4,461 recovered, 58 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,431 positive cases, 111 active positive, 4,277 recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,644 positive cases, 67 active positive, 2,524 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,462 positive cases, 88 active positive, 2,337 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,051positive cases, 852 active positive, 21,853 recovered, 346 deaths; Udhampur has 4,037 positive cases, 128 active positive, 3,852 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,787 positive cases, 224 active positive, 3,509 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,348 positive cases, 82 active positive, 3,205 recovered, 61 deaths; Kathua has 3,121 positive cases, 84 active positive, 2,989 recovered, 48 deaths. “Kishtwar has 2,710 positive cases, 75 active positive, 2,614 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,695 positive cases, 229 active positive, 2,429 recovered, 37 deaths; Poonch has 2,436 positive cases, 29 active positive, 2,385 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,072 positive cases, 40 active positive, 2,011 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,611 positive cases, 61 active positive, 1536 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 18,803 positive cases, 11,147 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
