J&K Police resumes recruitment process for Border Battalion | | | EARly Times Report
Jammu, Dec 29 : Jammu and Kashmir Police have resumed the recruitment process of Border Battalions which was suspended in March due outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Physical Endurance Test and Physical Standard Test (PET/PST) for the remaining candidates of Jammu district began on December 24. Chairman Recruitment Board Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Dr S D Singh Jamwal has said nearly 2000 youth will be recruited for Border Battalions. It is a new initiative to safeguard the border areas by local people itself, however, they will also be added in current police forces, said Jamwal. Some seats have been reserved for candidates who came under the area of 10 kilometers along borders, Jamwal further added. After completing the recruitment process of PET/PST in Jammu Province, the recruitment process for the candidates of Kashmir Province will begin soon, Jamwal added. "It will be a good step to recruit local people from border areas to safeguard the nation's borders because they know the area better," a candidate said. The PET/PST test for two Border Battalions started in the month of March 2020 and was completed in Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua districts. The test was going in Jammu and Samba district when it was stopped due to pandemic. Aspirants said they are working hard ready to serve the nation. "We often face incidents of the ceasefire in border areas, I am preparing for these from last one year," the candidate added. A medical team has been deployed also at the venue for the screening and conduct of the RAPID test for Covid-19 for all the appearing candidates. |
