Can’t kiss, hug my wife due to threat of Covid: Farooq | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 17: Former chief minister and president of National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah said that due to the threat of deadly Coronavirus he cannot kiss or hug his wife. Speaking in a function while releasing a book title ‘Shakhs Shakhsiyat aur Khidmaat’, written by Masud Ahmed Choudhary, at Jammu on Sunday, Dr Abdullah said that the deadly virus has changed life-style and people are hesitating to even shake hands with each other. “Life has been changed due to this virus”, he observed and said that every section of the society is badly affected by this virus. Pointing towards the start of vaccination in the country, the former chief minister hoped that a vaccine launched in the country will end this deadly virus. Dr Abdullah termed the financial package announced by the Centre for J&K as eyewash and said that earlier similar packages were announced from time to time but remained only on papers. “What happened to earlier packages worth Rs 80,000 crores and Rs 28000 crores announced by the Union Government?”, he asked. Former chief minister expressed his concern over the continuous blockade of Jammu-Srinagar national highway for the last few days. “Despite tall claims we are facing shortage of essential commodities”, he said and regretted that even after more than 70 years of independence we can make our highway operational throughout the year. “Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had promised to take rail to Kashmir by the end of 2007 ; now it has been extended to 2022. I am afraid the same deadline will be extended to 2040”, he said. |
