7 years ago, Mehbooba taunted Rahul with 'Sheila ki Jawani' remark
Politics makes strange bedfellows!

JAMMU, Jan 19: At present PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is busy praising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claiming that history will remember him for standing up to 'present dictatorial regime'. Seven years down the line, it was the same Mehbooba Mufti who taunted Rahul with a nick name of 'Sheila ki Jawani'.
Recently, on January 16, this year, taking to Twitter, Mufti said it is a fact that "New India is in the grip of a select few" and Gandhi is the only politician who dares to speak the truth. "Ridicule Rahul Gandhi all you want but he is the only politician who dares to speak the truth. It's a fact that New India is in the grip of a select few & crony capitalists. History will remember him for standing upto the present dictatorial regime (sic)," the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president said.
However, not many would remember that it was the same PDP president who in an event held on January 5, 2014 showered praises at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ridiculed Rahul Gandhi in open. "I feel that Rahul Gandhi could have been the face of the anticorruption movement - something we've been seeing for the last four-five years since he got a platform. Rahul Gandhi is a young leader, his party is big; leaving the UPA-I aside, by the UPA-II, he should have woken up. Take Anna Hazare's fast against corruption, something that an old man is doing, he should have been doing that. No offence meant, but he can't have a Sheila ki jawani number in a flop film. If pressure begins to build up, you talk about passing an ordinance; if pressure builds up you talk about Lok Pal Bill. You have to be consistent and constant," Mehbooba had said in an idea exchange event held in New Delhi on January 5, 2014.
At the same venue, Mehbooba showered praises to the Prime Minister Modi who was yet to be elected as the Prime Minister at that time.
When asked what she thinks about Modi, she had this to say: "I find Modi very authoritative. He seems to be growing much more than the party. Perhaps people are looking for someone assertive and authoritative. Perhaps that's why his stock is growing. I hope and pray that what people say about him, that he is divisive, is not true, especially after he is standing for the prime minister's post. I hope that he is able to prove people wrong by acting differently and allowing them to forget the unfortunate Gujarat incident."
Now when more than seven years have passed, there seems to be a tectonic shift in Mehbooba's overall policies and stand. Will this new strategy being adopted by the PDP help the party from saving its ship from plunging into oblivion? Will it resurrect the mass support it used to enjoy in its strong bastions?
Will praising Rahul project pacify the party's relationship with the Congress for any future bonhomie?
