Package employees occupy quarters at Vessu forcibly, others protest | Relief Organisation registers case | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 21: Total lawlessness prevails at Vessu where over a dozen PM package employees who were already living in one room tenements have forcibly occupied the newly constructed quarters by breaking their locks. The action evoked strong resentment among the other employees living in rent accommodations in different parts of Valley who also held a strong protest demonstration at Press Club here today and demanded that all the forcible occupants of Government quarters at Vessu in Anantnag district be evicted immediately and the same be allotted to those employees who are residing on rent outside. The Relief Organisation which too has taken serious exception to forcible occupation of quarters at Vessu has filed an FIR at Police Station Qazigund against the tress passers and asked the police to get the forcible occupants evicted immediately besides it has also written a letter to concerned departments seeking disciplinary action against them. The employees while protesting here raised slogans against forcible occupation by some goons who violating all service rules have let loose a reign of terror. They said these employees were already residing in Government accomodations and by occupying newly constructed quarters they have set a wrong trend and challenged the authority of law enforcing giving an indication that jungle law prevails in UT where it is free for all for every body. They demanded strict action against forcible occupants and their ring leaders so that no one can dare to take law into their own hands. They also demanded that all forcible occupants be evicted from the quarters and the same be allotted to employees putting on rent on the basis of their seniority. |
