| Khair smuggling foiled | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 28: Gharota Police today foiled smuggling of Khair wood and arrested a driver along with vehicle being used for smuggling.
According to sources, during patrolling duty, police party of Police Station Gharota, led by SHO Mahesh Sharma, stopped one Mahindra Balero (load carrier) bearing registration number JK20/5242.
The vehicle was driven by Askar Ali resident of Baran Tehsil Bhalwal District Jammu for checking purpose at Baran and during checking 60 logs of Khair wooden logs found loaded in the said vehicle.
Driver of the said vehicle failed to produce any relevant documents from authorized Forest officer for transporting the Khair wood.
The said driver as such committed the offence under section 41/42 Indian Forest Act. .
DFO Jammu, Authorized Officer, informed for further necessary action under law. Police has issued warning that anyone involved in forest smuggling shall be dealt sternly and strict action under law shall be taken. |
