Tasaduq Mufti’s joining politics was a wrong decision: Mehbooba

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 28: Even as Tasaduq Mufti, the brother of former Chief Minister and the Peoples Democratic Party, President, Mehbooba Mufti has been missing from the political scene since the abrogation of the special status on Aug 5, 2019, Mehbooba Mufti has started defending his absence.
Sources said at a recently held meeting at the Fair View residence of Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar, some of the invitees raised questions as to “why Tasaduq had been absent from PDP when the party needs him the most?”
Sources said Mehbooba at once defended him absence saying that the family had taken a wrong step by making him join politics.
In a bid to convince the meeting, Mehbooba Mufti said making Tasaduq Mufti join politics after the death of their father and then Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in 2016 was “a really wrong move as he was not fit for the field of politics.”
Sources said with this statement, Mehbooba has ruled out Tasaduq coming back to PDP, atleast in the near future. Sources said over the last few months Mehbooba had been facing tough questions with regard to Tasaduq’s absence from PDP “when he should have been standing in support of the party founded by his own family.”
Sources said Tasaduq has not been in good terms with the party leaders right since the collapse of the PDP led government in 2018.
It was reliably learnt that the leaders of the party in particular had been complaining about the absence of Mufti family scion.
It is pertinent to mention that Tasaduq Mufti stayed away from PDP even when the party broke apart and most of the leaders joined rivals or established their own party.
Despite repeated attempts, the Muftis were not available for comments.
