COVID-19 recovery rate in JK reaches 97.67%; 63 new cases, one fresh death | Positive cases 124297, active positive 963, recovered 121402, casualties 1932 | | JEHANGIR RASHID EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Jan 28: With 149 more people recovering today the COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 97.67 percent. Following 63 new cases the positive cases reached 1, 24,297; death toll reached 1,932 with one fresh death being reported from Jammu division. Srinagar district reported 26 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 13 cases, Baramulla and Anantnag districts five cases each, Kupwara, Shopian and Samba districts three cases each and Pulwama, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Rajouri & Poonch districts one case each. Budgam, Kulgam, Udhampur, Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi districts reported no fresh case. Kathua district in the Jammu division reported a fresh virus related death while no such death came to the fore from Kashmir valley. So far 1,212 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 720 people have fallen prey to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 63 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 18 from Jammu division and 45 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,297. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division. Moreover, 149 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 97 from Jammu division and 52 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,297 positive cases, 963 are active positive, 1, 21,402 have recovered and 1,932 have died; 720 in Jammu division and 1,212 in Kashmir division. Out of 44, 81,723 test results available, 43, 57,426 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 01,148 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,025 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 963 in isolation and 98,020 in home surveillance. Besides, 9, 66,208 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,126 positive cases, 296 active positive, 25,376 recovered, 454 deaths; Baramulla has 8,101 positive cases, 38 active positive, 7,889 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,758 positive cases, 43 active positive, 7,598 recovered, 117 deaths; Pulwama has 5,710 positive cases, 57 active positive, 5,565 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,650 positive cases, 32 active positive, 5,523 recovered, 95 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,892 positive cases, 57 active positive, 4,751 recovered, 84 deaths; Bandipora has 4,688 positive cases, 22 active positive, 4,605 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,606 positive cases, 61 active positive, 4,499 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,692 positive cases, 27 active positive, 2,611 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,569 positive cases, 33 active positive, 2,497 recovered, 39 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,938 positive cases, 154 active positive, 24,414 recovered, 370 deaths; Udhampur has 4,197 positive cases, 24 active positive, 4,116 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,868 positive cases, five active positive, 3,808 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,428 positive cases, three active positive, 3,361 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,254 positive cases, three active positive, 3,199 recovered, 52 deaths. "Samba has 2,829 positive cases, 73 active positive, 2,716 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,731 positive cases, one active positive, 2,708 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,491 positive cases, 27 active positive, 2,440 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,131 positive cases, two active positive, 2,108 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,638 positive cases, five active positive, 1,618 recovered, 15 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,297 positive cases in J&K, 11.621 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
