Mehbooba avoids condemning Red-Fort incident; demands withdrawal of laws | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 28: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday demanded immediate withdrawal of the three farm laws but avoided saying anything against those who shamed the nation on Republic Day by 'insulting' the national flag. When reporters asked Mehbooba Mufti about the shameful incident at Red Fort on Republic Day, the PDP president could not muster the courage to condemn that incident. She rather blamed BJP for the violence by making an obvious reference towards main accused Deep Sidhu's picture with BJP Lok Sabha member Sunny Deol. She claimed that those involved in Delhi violence were "BJP men" "Republic Day is a day of celebration of the Constitution. When you make laws and when these laws are against the fundamentals of the Constitution. For the farms bills, farmers were never consulted," she said while replying to the question on violence on January 26. Farmers feel scared, she said and demanded withdrawal of the laws to end this fear among the farming community. Earlier Mehbooba Mufti had opposed NIA's notices of some leaders of the farmers. "GOIs pet agency NIA is now being unleashed on farmer unions. The rot that has set into India's premier terror investigative agency can be gauged from the manner in which they are fabricating charges on Kashmiris, farmers & those who dare to dissent", Mehbooba tweeted. |
