Rana seeks LG, Dr Karan Singh’s intervention in ending DTEA strike | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 31: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Dr Karan Singh to intervene into the issues being raised by the Pujaris and other employees of Dharmarth Trust, saying the street protests do not augur well keeping in view the sanctity of the temples and shrines. Rana who was interacting with protesting employees in the precincts of the historic Ranbireshwar Temple here this evening said “We, the Sanatanies, are pained to see the Pujaris and others, who upkeep the sanctity of the temples, sitting on dharnas or to taking to streets for getting their issues resolved”, Rana said, hoping that given the tall stature of Dr Karan Singh Ji, the Chairman of the Dharmarth Trust, his eminence as a great scholar and statesman, there seems no reason why the employees feel constrained to take the agitational path. These are the issues which can be resolved by the internal mechanism of the Trust, he added. Rana also made a passionate appeal to the protesting Dharmarth Trust employees to give up Jal Samadhi move and responding to his compassionate appeal the protesting Pujaris and employees of the Dharmarth Trust today agreed to give up the proposed Jal Samadhi move in support of their demands. Rana said the ongoing protests are not sending a good message across the society and therefore sooner these culminate amicably the better it is, not only for the functioning of temples and shrines under the control of Dharmarth Trust but also for the society as a whole. He said as a responsible member of the society, he would knock every door in getting the issues settled. Rana also took strong exception to the portion of premises of the historic temple being virtually used as a garbage dump by the JMC, saying it is unacceptable. Those who accompanied Rana to Ranbireshwar Temple included Pt Ram Parshotam Sharma, Pt Vidaya Sagar, Puran Singh, Thoru Ram, Dwarka Sharma, Sandeep Singh and others. |
